Some events live in your heart long after the music fades and the chairs are packed up. The Waiyaki Way Die Hards Reunion held on 31st May 2025 was one of those moments — raw, nostalgic, beautifully chaotic, and deeply emotional. This wasn’t just a meetup. It was a coming home.
The Rise of Entumo WhatsApp Group
At the heart of this story lies a simple WhatsApp group — Team Entumo. It started as a space to vibe, to catch up, to share laughs, memories, and the usual daily madness that makes life bearable. We shared everything — from memes to memories, and from frustrations to future dreams.
But like many great things, change knocked. One day, out of the blue, Entumo’s management pulled the plug. The group was shut down — just like that. No warning. Just silence. For a moment, it felt like someone had snatched away our digital home.
But legends don’t fade — they evolve. The original founder of the Team Entumo group wasn’t about to let that bond die. So with fire in his heart and die-hard spirit in his soul, he revived it. New name, same spirit: The Waiyaki Way Die Hards.
Within days, the group was alive again. Full of loud greetings, shared memories, and muchene that could light a whole village. That energy? Unmatched. We were back — and we were louder and prouder than ever.

As usual, talk turned into action. Someone casually joked about meeting up. Another seconded the idea. Before we knew it, ideas were flying left and right — venues, food, themes, drinks, time… emotions.
After weeks of polling, back-and-forths, and spirited debates (you know how groups go), the admins did what they do best — made a decision. Jaydee Lounge along Kikuyu Road it was.
By mid-morning, the early birds had landed. These were the real MVPs. They made sure the mbuzi was slaughtered, prepped, and grilled to perfection. No Kenyan reunion is complete without nyama choma. That sizzling sound? Pure poetry.
As for me — and my partner in crime and life — we made a grand entrance at around 4:30pm. Late, dramatic, and perfectly timed. Just how legends do.
Immediately we walked in, Sir George — aka Piano-Little Fingers — spotted us. He didn’t miss a beat. He welcomed us like royalty, sorted out our seats and drinks. The kind of warmth that wraps around your soul like a Maasai shuka on a cold evening.
Right as we were settling, an impromptu election was going down. Yes — elections. But this wasn’t politics, this was passion. Members picked officials who would carry the Die Hards banner high. Voices rose. Cheers rang out. It was beautiful chaos.

Then came DJ Stiga. My God. The man knew exactly what our hearts needed — classic country music. We didn’t just dance, we felt the music. Every song a memory. Every beat, a heartbeat.
After Stiga lit our souls, DJ Tev took over and took us way back. Old skool RnB, Genge, Hip Hop and everything in between. Even those who swore they were “too old” to dance found themselves on their feet, smiling wide.

As if the night wasn’t magical enough, a few of us die-hards decided to take the vibe to Entumo for the Country Meets Karaoke session. It was like closing a chapter where it all started. But that’s a story for another day.
More than the food, more than the music — it was the feeling. That sense of belonging, of reconnecting with people who just get you. You don’t find that every day. You don’t build that overnight.
It wasn’t just a reunion. It was healing. A chance to laugh out loud, to hug long and tight, to look back and still look forward. It reminded us that even in our chaotic adult lives, there are people who see us.
We’re already looking forward to the next reunion. Bigger, better, and even more emotional. Because once a Die Hard, always a Die Hard.
The 31st of May, 2025 wasn’t just a Saturday. It was a bookmark in the story of our lives. A reminder that even after years apart, the vibe never dies. Here’s to more laughter, more country music, more goat meat, and more memories. The Waiyaki Way Die Hards? We’re not just a group. We’re family.
